Cover letter — for the Content Specialist

Hi there,

I'm applying for the Social Media Content Creator role because the brief is the kind of work I do every day — turning real stories into platform-native content that moves an audience — and because the mission behind it matters. TFA exists to give every child a great education regardless of postcode. I grew up believing education is the great equaliser; pointing my content craft at that is genuinely motivating. I built this hub before applying so you can see how I'd actually show up.

Here's what I bring, plainly. I create and ship content fast across channels — short-form video, photo, written posts, captions and CTAs — and I plan and run content calendars and publishing workflows. I'm fluent in Canva, CapCut and Adobe tools, and I read analytics and write the optimisation memo, not just the caption. The difference in how I work is an AI production layer — my "AI Air Team" (Claude, Gemini, Grok) handles trend monitoring, first-draft variants and scheduling support, so one creator keeps five platforms — TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube — fed and consistent without dropping quality. Door 02 of this hub is a working content engine I built for TFA's recruitment story; Doors 03 and 04 take it up to strategy. All live.

Let me be straight about my growth edges, because that's the Rind Standard I work to. I'm strongest behind the camera and in the edit, not yet a polished on-camera presenter — the PD asks for confidence appearing on camera, and I'd build that with reps rather than pretend it's a finished skill. I also don't hold a media/comms degree (listed as desirable, not essential). What I do have is genuine multi-platform content output, evidence-first discipline from years of Australian government work, and the maturity to take direction from a Content Specialist and deliver to deadline in a fast, collaborative team.

I'm Melbourne-based, available immediately, happy with flexible arrangements and occasional interstate travel for content capture, and I hold (or will immediately obtain) a Working with Children Check and Police Check. I'd love to walk you through this hub in fifteen minutes.

How I fit — your PD, point by point

Mapped honestly against the role's primary accountabilities and essentials. Violet = a clear strength. Teal = a growth edge I'd build into. No point is hidden.

— Accountability
Plan, create, schedule & publish across 5 platforms
Multi-platform content + calendars + publishing workflows is exactly how I work. Door 02 shows a 5-channel plan with a two-week calendar.
Strength
— Essential
Strong on TikTok & Instagram short-form
Short-form-first thinking with hooks, trends and platform-native formatting — sample concepts in Door 02. AI trend-monitoring keeps me current.
Strength
— Essential
Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite
Confident across Canva and CapCut for short-form, and Photoshop/Illustrator for stills and brand assets.
Strength
— Accountability
Write captions, copy & CTAs in brand voice
Copywriting in a defined tone of voice is core to my work — examples written in TFA's "inspiring, urgent, evidence-based" voice in Door 02.
Strength
— Essential
Analytics & performance reporting
I read platform insights and write the "what to do next" memo. The reporting half is the half most creators skip — I don't.
Strength
— Accountability
Build a content + brand asset library
I run tagged, version-controlled asset libraries across 7 live projects — exactly the "ongoing campaign and storytelling use" the PD describes.
Strength
— Accountability
Run boosting campaigns
Comfortable setting up and reading boosted/paid social. I'd manage spend tightly and report on cost-per-result, not just reach.
Strength
— Accountability
Confidently appear on camera
My strength is behind the camera and in the edit. I can present, but I'm not yet a polished on-camera talent — I'd build this with reps, honestly.
Growth edge
— Accountability
Film with professional equipment
Strong on mobile-first capture and edit; on high-end pro-camera shoots I'd lean on the team early while I level up.
Growth edge
— Desirable
HubSpot & scheduling tools
Fluent in scheduling/publishing tools; HubSpot I'd pick up fast — I already work across multiple marketing platforms.
Strength
— Accountability
Source authentic stories with stakeholders
Years of frontline government work across diverse audiences — I build trust quickly and draw real stories out of real people.
Strength
— Values
DEIB, educational equity & brand alignment
Purpose-driven work is why I'm applying. I'd hold every post to TFA's values, brand guidelines and commitment to equity.
Aligned
— Checks
WWCC + Police Check · out-of-hours
Ready to obtain both immediately, comfortable with occasional out-of-hours work and interstate travel for content capture.
